Solar Panels

Understanding what Solar Panels are

It is basically an assortment of solar cells. When the light falls on these cells, energy is produced. These panels are devised in such a way that they convert light into electrical energy. They are guided by the natural light of the sun or solar energy.

Solar panels also referred to as photovoltaic cells and are actually made up of crystalline silicon polycrystalline, amorphous silicon, monocrystalline, or even hybrids solar cells. Characteristically, solar cells are laid in a grid pattern design and it has at least 72 different solar cells.

To help protect solar panels from any external damage and to elongate its life, they are sealed tightly and covered in a non-reflective glass.

Solar panels find its usage in residences, street lighting, commercial buildings etc.

So what makes up a Solar Panel?

solar
  • Solar Cell- This is a semiconductor device that actually helps convert sunlight into DC pr direct current electricity.
  • Solar Panel- It consists of one or even more PV modules that are assembled as a pre-wired, field-installable unit.
  • Module- Here PV modules are made up of PV cell circuits that are further locked and contained in an environmentally safe and well-protected laminate and these make up the primary building blocks of PV systems.
  • Array- A PV array is the whole power-generating component, comprising of any number of PV panels and modules.
